About this Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our finance team within our manufacturing plant. In this role, you will be responsible for providing financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic insights specific to manufacturing operations. You will work closely with plant management to evaluate cost structures, improve efficiency, and support decision-making that drives profitability and operational performance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, and the ability to communicate financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
Month-End Close & General Ledger
  • Own month-end close responsibilities for the plant, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, performing GL account reconciliations, and ensuring accurate, on-time close of manufacturing cost and inventory-related accounts.
  • Aid in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the manufacturing plant, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Support the monthly and annual closing processes, including reconciliation of manufacturing cost accounts and inventory valuation.
Annual Operating Plan & Forecasting
  • Serve as the primary on the plant’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP), driving the timeline, inputs, and deliverables in partnership with plant and finance leadership.
  • Lead an average of three forecast cycles per year, updating projections based on current performance, production trends, and business drivers, and communicating key variances and risks to leadership.
  • Develop, analyze, and update the plant’s budgets and forecasts, providing insights and recommendations to ensure financial goals are met.
Financial Modeling & Capital Projects
  • Partner with Commercial Finance to build full financial models for new and existing projects, incorporating capital expenditures, cash flow projections, and labor planning.
  • Assist in the evaluation of capital expenditures, new product lines, and process improvements through financial modeling and cost-benefit analysis.
Performance Analysis
  • Track and analyze key manufacturing performance indicators (KPIs), such as cost per unit, yield, production variances, and inventory levels.
  • Perform flux analysis of actual performance against budget and historical trends, offering solutions to address negative variances.
  • Analyze labor and headcount trends, including direct and indirect labor hours and payroll costs, to support labor planning and workforce cost forecasts.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Compliance
  • Coordinate with the plant leadership team on tracking cost control initiatives, measuring the impact of things such as reducing scrap, improving labor productivity, and optimizing machine downtime.
  • Partner with senior management to develop and implement financial strategies that align with plant goals and company objectives.
  • Provide actionable financial insights and recommendations to the operations team to improve margins, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements related to manufacturing finance and reporting, including applicable sales and use tax filings.
  • Assist in audit preparation and work with external auditors on plant-specific financial matters.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong proficiency in KPI development and reporting, sales forecasting and financial modeling.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience working within a manufacturing ERP system for functions such as sales and shipment reporting, regular and capital expense tracking, and GL/journal entry posting; experience with Infor VISUAL and SQL is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, and engineering, to drive financial performance.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and present financial insights in a clear, actionable manner.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
