Job summary

Richmond Community College is seeking an Financial Aid Assistant Director to assist with all facets of the institution's financial aid programs. This role provides lead support to the Financial Aid Specialist and works under the Director of Financial Aid and the Vice President of Student Services.

The position focuses on counseling students, determining eligibility, processing awards, ensuring SAP compliance, and coordinating with Veteran services while maintaining accurate posting and reporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, finance, computer information, or a closely related field.
• Two years of related financial aid experience preferred.
• Must possess data entry work processing skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Experience with Colleague preferred.

Responsibilities

• Counsels and assists students applying for financial aid opportunities.
• Explains financial aid programs and eligibility criteria.
• Provides intake services and responds to student inquiries; creates, sends, and responds to correspondence relating to financial aid programs and answers phones.
• Determines eligibility and computes financial aid awards utilizing various software packages; processes applications and makes corrections of student aid files; completes verifications and monitors documentation and award notifications.
• Assist in compliance with federal/state regulations and audit requirements as specified by the US Department of Education, NC State Education Assistance Authority, and NC Community College System.
• Monitors SAP and other criteria to ensure aid eligibility; notifies students of continued eligibility or disqualification; advises on appeal processes.
• Assist Veterans' Certifying Official with paperwork for submission to the Veterans Administration and monitoring certifications.
• Oversee posting of student aid funds to accounts in preparation for disbursements and assist with Return to Title IV calculations.
• Maintain procedures and reports to complete federal, state, and institutional reporting and prepare information for review by the Director of Financial Aid.
• Assist with annual setup of financial aid components, software updates, data testing, and troubleshooting Colleague.
• Maintain awareness of best practices, emerging trends, and new legislation relating to Financial Aid.
