Nextpower is seeking a Lead Tool Technician Mechanic in Texas to serve as the advanced technical authority for installation tooling and field tool‑support programs.

The role emphasizes diagnosing complex hydraulic, electrical, and control systems, leading on‑site teams, and delivering hands‑on coaching and training to customers and subcontractors. Travel up to 100% is required, with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of installation tooling, field service, or related technical environment.
• Advanced knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electro‑mechanical systems.
• Experience troubleshooting complex equipment problems and implementing corrective actions.
• Experience leading technical work at active sites with limited supervision.
• Experience developing or delivering technical training and mentoring technicians.
• Working knowledge of field safety practices, EH&S requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintaining service documentation.
• Ability to travel up to 100% and work extended hours as needed.
• Ability to influence decisions and resolve difficult field matters.

Responsibilities

• Act as the senior technical resource for installation tooling, tool‑support workshops, and field deployment activities, resolving complex equipment issues.
• Plan, schedule, and execute delivery, setup, commissioning, calibration, relocation, and demobilization of tool‑support workshops and field equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve advanced mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and controls problems using manuals and root‑cause analysis.
• Translate tooling schematics and service documentation into clear field instructions and corrective actions.
• Create, review, and maintain Job Hazard Analyses, safety plans, method statements, and EH&S records.
• Lead field tool‑support activities with owners, customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Forecast tooling demand, schedules, staffing, and equipment availability with management.
• Provide technical leadership and formal training to customers, temporary labor, subcontractors, and staff.
• Develop preventive maintenance guides, troubleshooting procedures, and standard work.
• Capture observations and communicate recommendations to Engineering, Product, Quality, and Operations.
• Maintain service records, parts usage, tool inventories, calibration records, and customer communications.
• Travel to customer and construction sites as business needs require.
