Electric Power Systems is hiring a Field Technician II in Washington state to perform testing, inspection, and maintenance of substations with growing independence. You will troubleshoot, document activities, and support commissioning under supervision, ensuring safety and quality at every step.

The role requires a strong safety culture, ability to travel, and preferred NETA II certification, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Pre-employment drug screen is required.
• Criminal background check is required.
• Willingness to overtime and travel out of town.
• Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills preferred.
• Experience with voltage verification, insulation resistance, and test equipment setup.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety policies and PPE usage in substation environments.
• Participate in safety training and job briefings; identify hazards and contribute to mitigation.
• Support safety culture through hazard reporting and lessons learned.
• Perform testing of high, medium, and low voltage equipment with limited supervision.
• Inspect and maintain breakers, transformers, instrument transformers, grounding, batteries, and switchgear.
• Troubleshoot using schematics and manuals; escalate complex issues.
• Conduct routine and corrective maintenance on electrical components.
• Assist with commissioning activities and verify readiness for service.
• Document testing, maintenance, and repair per project requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to complete field work safely.
• Maintain tools and work areas to ensure readiness.
