Job summary

ECS Limited in Fort Wayne is seeking a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Senior Field Technician I to join our team. You will perform a variety of field testing tasks, collaborate with project management, and help lead field activities in our Fort Wayne operations.

You will communicate with contractors and project teams daily, prepare detailed field reports, and train junior staff on procedures and documentation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related field experience.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Maintain basic certifications and two advanced certifications applicable to the work as per ECS Technician Certification Policy.
• OSHA 10 may be required.
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS subsidiary.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
• Advanced knowledge of construction materials testing principles and standards.
• Strong understanding of construction practices and jobsite operations.
• Advanced proficiency with electronic devices and data systems.
• Strong math and data reduction skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
• Ability to work independently and lead small field efforts.
• Ability to lift equipment and materials up to ~85 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Performs field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, asphalt, structural steel, and related materials.
• Executes testing activities on projects of moderate complexity with minimal supervision.
• Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
• Reports changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisors.
• Prepares accurate and detailed daily field reports documenting site conditions and results.
• Performs calculations, data reduction, and documentation tasks.
• Maintains and organizes field equipment and testing materials.
• Assists in resolving field-related issues and supports project execution.
• Trains and mentors Technician I and Technician II staff in field procedures and documentation.
• Participates in project meetings with senior staff as requested.
• Performs other field and project support duties as assigned.
