Field Technician Lead — Construction Materials Testing

Job summary

ECS Limited, part of the ECS Group of Companies, seeks a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Senior Field Technician I for our Cleveland team. You will work with project management professionals to perform field tests and observations, ensuring accuracy in documentation and compliance with testing standards.

You will mentor junior staff, participate in project meetings, and support field execution with strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related field experience.
• Maintain basic certifications and two advanced certifications.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications.
• Ability to lift equipment and materials regularly (up to ~85 lbs).
• Must have a valid driver's license if driving for ECS projects.

Responsibilities

• Performs field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, asphalt, structural steel, and related materials.
• Executes testing activities on projects of moderate complexity with minimal supervision.
• Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
• Reports changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisors.
• Prepares accurate and detailed daily field reports documenting site conditions and results.
• Performs calculations, data reduction, and documentation tasks.
• Maintains and organizes field equipment and testing materials.
• Trains and mentors Technician I and Technician II staff in field procedures and documentation.
• Participates in project meetings with senior staff as requested.
