Job summary

ECS Limited, Abilene, Texas, is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Senior Field Technician I to join our Abilene team. You will perform field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, and related materials, with mentorship of junior staff.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related experience
• Two advanced certifications applicable to the work
• OSHA 10 may be required
• Valid driver’s license if driving for ECS subsidiary
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
• Advanced knowledge of construction materials testing principles and standards
• Strong understanding of construction practices and jobsite operations
• Advanced proficiency with electronic devices and data systems
• Strong math and data reduction skills
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and specifications
• Ability to work independently and lead small efforts in the field
• Ability to lift equipment and materials regularly (up to ~85 lbs)
• Must safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all laws and company policies

Responsibilities

• Performs field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, asphalt, structural steel, and related materials
• Executes testing activities on projects of moderate complexity with minimal supervision
• Communicates daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers
• Reports changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisors
• Prepares accurate and detailed daily field reports documenting site conditions and results
• Performs calculations, data reduction, and documentation tasks
• Maintains and organizes field equipment and testing materials
• Assists in resolving field-related issues and supports project execution
• Trains and mentors Technician I and Technician II staff in field procedures and documentation
• Participates in project meetings with senior staff as requested
• Performs other field and project support duties as assigned
