Job summary

Onto Innovation is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join our team in Milpitas, CA. You will deliver expert hardware support for our semiconductor tools, communicate actionable plans, and drive improvements based on field feedback.

The role includes remote support and on-site service at customer facilities, with training and collaboration with design engineers. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in field support, strong troubleshooting skills, and willingness to travel up to 50% domestically

Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• Familiar with PCs and have a strong troubleshooting background.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally with a current visa/entry permission.
• 50% travel required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Field Support Service.
• BS in electronics or equivalent military experience in a technical field.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert level hardware support of installation base through escalation for Onto Innovation tools via remote support or at customer sites.
• Develop and effectively communicate with internal and external customers on plans of action and results.
• Drive improvement in support structure of existing products through documentation revision and field feedback to design engineers.
• Provide on the job training to Field Service Engineers.
• Provide field service input to New Product Development through design reviews and testing.
• Support documentation development and qualification criteria during New Product Introduction.
• Provide occasional support of field service activities in a field service engineer capacity.
• Remain in a stationary position for lengthy periods; access cleanroom areas; move equipment up to 50 pounds.
