Job summary

Onto Innovation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive development, integration, and testing of semiconductor metrology systems at our Milpitas facility. You will integrate hardware, optics, and software to deliver high-performance products and support field deployments with up to 30% travel.

The role requires a strong engineering background, hands-on lab experience with precision optics, and a track record in system-level integration within semiconductor capital equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Engineering/Sciences or equivalent with focus on Engineering, Physics or Optics
• >5 years experience in a semiconductor capital equipment engineering role, preferably metrology
• Hands-on experience in the integration of precision optical and optomechanical components
• Experience working on prototype systems in a hands-on laboratory setting

Responsibilities

• Integrate, test, and characterize systems and components as part of new system development
• Combine hardware and optical subsystems with software to deliver high-performance products
• Design and conduct experiments to characterize, troubleshoot, and improve metrology performance
• Develop plans of action, and execute in a timely manner
• Generate both internal and external technical presentations
• Ability to understand and generate technical documentation for manufacturing and service
• Release documented procedures through ECO process
• As part of field support, travel (up to 30%) to customer sites within and outside the US
