Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking multiple Survey Party Chiefs to manage field crews and perform boundary, topo, ALTA, GPS and control surveys on large commercial projects. Most work is in the field, with travel to sites as needed.

You will train 1–5 crew members, review field notes, ensure safety, and coordinate with engineers and clients. A valid driver's license, a high school diploma, and a LSIT/license are preferred; 7–10 years' crew chief experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7-10 years of experience as a Crew Leader/Party Chief.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Surveying license or LSIT.
• Experience with Trimble or similar software.
• Construction staking and data collection systems experience.
• Strong experience performing complex surveying calculations.
• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of survey equipment used on job site and assist with training others when practical.
• Prepare field sketches/drawings and high-quality field notes, including level notes, for each project in accordance with company and general survey standards.
• Assemble all instruments and measuring devices needed to complete various types of survey work assignments.
• Accurately run and adjust survey-measuring instruments including level, transit, theodolite, electronic measuring devices and total stations with electronic data collecting capabilities.
• Ensures that the proper equipment is loaded, and batteries charged for the next assignment.
• Performs mathematical calculations.
• Adhere to company safety policies along with use of PPE.
• Provide positive client/public relations in the field.
