Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking multiple Survey Party Chiefs to join its Survey Division in Houston. This role leads 1–5 crew members, coordinates field surveys including boundary, topographic, ALTA and GPS tasks, and works largely in the field on large commercial projects.

You will train and supervise survey crews, review field notes, perform calculations, and ensure safety protocols on site. Strong GPS/Total Station experience and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA, GPS, hydrographic and control surveys.
• Minimum 7-10 years of Crew Leader/Party Chief experience.
• Strong GPS and total station proficiency, field data collection.
• Familiarity with computer applications and communication in the field.
• Knowledge of surveying technology and civil engineering concepts.
• Experience with Trimble or similar software is preferred.
• Commercial construction experience is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation and maintenance of survey equipment and train others.
• Prepare field sketches, drawings and high-quality notes for each project.
• Assemble instruments and measure devices; operate level, transit, theodolite and total stations.
• Ensure equipment and batteries are ready for the next assignment.
• Perform mathematical calculations and read plans and specs.
• Understand sources of measurement errors and staking concepts.
• Uphold safety policies and PPE usage; maintain client relations.
• Complete assigned tasks and support broader project needs.
