Job summary

Signode Industrial Group seeks a Sr. Field Service Technician based in the Akron, OH area to install, service and train customers on a wide range of industrial equipment.

The role requires daily auto travel with frequent overnight stays and extensive review of blueprints and schematics. Candidates should have 4–5 years of related experience, PLC knowledge, and self-motivation to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years of transferable experience.
• Experience on Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatics and Hydraulics systems.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• PLC background.
• Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
• Desirable: Electrical or mechanical or automation courses.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and train on general-purpose equipment.
• Travel daily by auto with frequent overnight stays.
• Read blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics for installation and retrofits.
• Provide technical support and training to Signode technicians.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment: electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components.
• Coordinate pre-installation meetings with customers and inspect sites for compatibility.
• Identify upgrade and retrofit opportunities and coordinate quotations.
• Maintain safety compliance and report unsafe conditions.
• Communicate with customers, management and engineering.
