Job summary

Signode is seeking a field service engineer based in Akron, OH to install and service a broad range of machinery and packaging equipment. Travel is a core part of the role with multi-hour drives and overnight stays as needed. The candidate should read schematics and have PLC experience to diagnose and repair complex systems.

Qualifications

• 4-5 years of transferable experience.
• Experience with Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatics and Hydraulics systems.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• PLC background.
• Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
• Desirable: professional electrical/mechanical/automation courses.

Responsibilities

• Install and train on general equipment with a wide variety of machines.
• Travel daily by auto with frequent overnight stays; drive time 1–6 hours per day.
• Document daily service activities and expenses in the recording system.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical faults.
• Coordinate pre-install meetings and inspect sites for compatibility; install, adjust and test equipment.
• Design and conduct training programs for repair and/or preventative maintenance.
