Job summary

Signode is seeking a field service technician based in the Chicago, IL area to install, service, and train customers on a wide range of general-purpose packaging equipment. The role requires daily auto travel with frequent overnight stays, reading blueprints, and diagnosing issues across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

The position emphasizes safety, customer relations, and proactive problem solving, with opportunities for growth in equipment retrofits and on-site

Qualifications

• 4-5 years of transferable experience.
• Experience working on Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatics, and Hydraulics systems.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• PLC background.
• Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Install and provide on-demand/scheduled service and training for general-purpose equipment.
• Travel daily by auto with frequent overnight stays.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics for installations and upgrades.
• Provide technical support and training to Signode technicians.
• Identify and troubleshoot equipment failures across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical domains.
