Job summary

Wärtsilä North America is seeking a Field Service Superintendent – Energy to lead complex mechanical field service activities at customer power plants across TX, with a strong focus on safety and customer collaboration.

You will oversee major repairs, coordinate across Service Engineers and Technicians, and ensure quality execution per Wärtsilä standards. Extensive travel (85%) and willingness to work overtime are required.

Qualifications

• BSc in Mechanical Engineering or related field; or equivalent work experience.
• Extensive experience in power generation field service, particularly with reciprocating engines.
• Proven hands-on experience with engine overhauls and major mechanical repairs.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills in complex mechanical environments.
• Systematic way of working with good organizational and documentation skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers.
• Good command of English, both oral and written.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Lead major mechanical overhauls including full engine disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of 4-stroke reciprocating engines and auxiliary equipment.
• Perform complex troubleshooting of mechanical and operational issues at customer power plants, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Act as Superintendent for complex service projects, leading on-site execution and coordinating Service Engineers, Technicians, and other field resources.
• Serve as main technical contact for customers during service execution, leading technical discussions and managing expectations.
• Prepare detailed Service Work Reports with findings, analysis, conclusions, and technical recommendations.
• Provide internal and external progress updates on assigned work and follow up on work order status.
• Support New Build and Commissioning activities as required, ensuring smooth transition from installation to operation.
• Ensure all work complies with Wärtsilä QHSE guidelines and customer site procedures.
• Proactively identify improvement opportunities and apply best practices to enhance service execution.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
