Job summary

Steelcrest Precision is seeking a Senior Field Service Engineer to lead troubleshooting, retrofits, and commissioning of automated systems. You will mentor junior engineers, diagnose high‑complexity electrical, mechanical, robotics, and control issues, and travel to customers across regions to ensure service quality.

The role demands strong PLC/HMI/robot programming skills, 2D/3D CAD capability, and a track record of customer‑facing leadership.

Qualifications

• Diagnose and repair complex automated systems across electrical, mechanical, and robotics domains.
• Experience with PLC platforms (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi).
• Experience with HMI platforms (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Maple, C‑More).
• Advanced robot programming and troubleshooting with Fanuc, ABB, KUKA, Staubli.
• Experience with servo systems, VFDs, motion control and vision systems.
• Proficient in 2D CAD (electrical) and 3D CAD (mechanical).
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; customer-facing.
• Leadership, mentoring and project coordination.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% and work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer sites promptly to troubleshoot and restore automated systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software components.
• Lead complex electrical, mechanical, robotic, PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, vision issues.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support including root cause analysis.
• Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance and system health evaluations.
• Replace or retrofit faulty components to restore functionality.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to field staff.
• Serve as lead engineer on complex engagements.
• Assist onboarding and training of new team members.
• Support system startups, FATs and SATs; participate in design reviews.
