Senior Field Commissioning Engineer — PLCs, Robotics & Automation in Greater Milwaukee area seeks a seasoned professional to lead equipment readiness, robotic calibration, and on-site deployments for Tier-1 clients. The role blends shop-floor debugging with field commissioning.

The position requires 5+ years in automated systems, strong PLC/robotics skills, and readiness to travel 50–80% both domestically and abroad.

Qualifications

5+ years field proven experience in commissioning and integration of custom automated machinery.
Strong PLC diagnostics including I/O tracing and basic logic modifications (Rockwell/Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal).
Ability to read and trace complex electrical layouts, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic schematics.
Willingness to travel 50% to 80% to customer sites across NA and internationally.
Must reside within commuting distance of Greater Milwaukee area and have valid driver’s license + passport eligibility.

Responsibilities

Lead internal commissioning, live-wire debug, and I/O validation of custom automated systems before shop floor release.
Calibrate 3+ axis robotic platforms, validate EOAT setups, and ensure proper network communications.
Perform high-level PLC and hardware diagnostics across servo drives, vision systems, pneumatics, and safety interlocks.
Oversee onsite installations and run-offs at global client facilities, training customer personnel.
Collaborate with mechanical design, project managers, and shop floor teams to isolate hardware/software issues quickly.
Maintain daily testing hours, track open issues, and provide detailed progress logs to stakeholders.
