Job summary

Forgent Power is seeking a Sr. Field Service Engineer to lead complex field service, commissioning, and modernization of MV/HV power systems. You will provide on-site leadership, mentor technicians, and coordinate with project teams to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

The role requires 11+ years of field experience or equivalent technical degree, deep knowledge of switchgear protection, and the ability to diagnose transformer faults. Travel and on-site work are expected.

Qualifications

• 11+ years of field experience with MV/HV switchgear, protection and control systems or equivalent technical degree with demonstrated field competency
• Proven ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning and service events
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices (NFPA 70E/OSHA) including LOTO and arc-flash risk controls
• Ability to read, troubleshoot, and redline schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams
• Experience with transformer diagnostics and field testing, including DGA interpretation and IEEE C57 criteria

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning and startup of complete electrical systems with acceptance testing
• Serve as primary technical escalation point for advanced control, protection, and integration issues
• Plan and perform advanced diagnostics for equipment and protection/control issues
• Direct transformer diagnostics, testing, and condition assessment
• Lead field program leadership during outages, manage field crews, and mentor junior engineers
• Define and implement modernization, retrofit, and system integration strategies
• Ensure safe work execution and compliance with safety standards
• Produce high-quality field service reports, test records, and commissioning checklists
