Job summary

Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Level 5 Switchgear Field Engineer to lead complex field service activities for MV/HV switchgear installations, commissioning, maintenance, and modernization.

You will serve as the technical authority on diagnostics, testing, and safety, interfacing with customers and project teams on site. You will mentor junior engineers and technicians, drive quality and schedule adherence, and coordinate with PMs, engineering, factory, and supply chain on parts and

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
8+ years of field experience with MV/HV switchgear and protection & control systems.
Ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex events.
Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices (NFPA 70E/OSHA).
Proven experience reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-lines.
Ability to write clear field reports and test documentation.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

Lead field installation, commissioning, and service for switchgear.
Plan and perform advanced diagnostics for protection/control issues.
Execute testing (insulation resistance, hipot/VLF, relay checks) and documentation.
Perform protection relay commissioning and verify settings per drawings.
Interpret and redline drawings and ensure as-built accuracy.
Ensure safety requirements and lead on-site safety briefings.
Mentor junior engineers/technicians and coach troubleshooting approaches.
Coordinate parts, RMA/warranty, and technical escalations with PMs and engineering.
Produce field service reports, test records, and commissioning checklists.
