Job summary

Kinara Group has been engaged to appoint a Senior Field Service Engineer specialising in LC-MS on behalf of a client within the analytical instrumentation sector.

The Senior Field Service Engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of LC-MS systems at customer sites, ensuring minimal downtime and a high standard of customer service throughout. Significant travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on field service experience with LC-MS instrumentation.
• Strong knowledge of chromatography and mass spectrometry.
• Ability to work independently and manage a territory.
• Full, valid driving licence and willingness to travel, including overnight stays.
• Excellent communication skills and customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Installation, qualification and commissioning of LC-MS instrumentation at customer sites.
• Diagnosis and resolution of hardware and software faults.
• Delivery of planned preventative maintenance.
• Remote and on-site technical support to customers.
• Accurate completion of service documentation and customer records.
• Build strong relationships with customers to support retention.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior service engineers.
• Liaise with applications and technical support teams on escalated issues.

The Company

Our client designs and manufactures analytical instrumentation used across pharmaceutical, clinical, environmental and industrial testing markets. As part of continued investment in customer support and service delivery, they are seeking an experienced field service engineer to join their technical support team.

The Role

The Senior Field Service Engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of LC-MS systems at customer sites, ensuring minimal downtime and a high standard of customer service throughout.

Key responsibilities include:

• Installation, qualification and commissioning of LC-MS instrumentation at customer sites
• Diagnosis and resolution of technical faults, including both hardware and software issues
• Delivery of planned preventative maintenance in line with service schedules
• Provision of remote and on-site technical support to customers
• Accurate completion of service documentation, reports and customer records
• Building strong working relationships with customers to support retention and repeat business
• Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior service engineers where required
• Liaising with applications and technical support teams on complex or escalated issues

The Candidate

Applicants should have significant hands‑on field service experience with LC-MS instrumentation, gained either with an instrument manufacturer or in a relevant service organisation. A strong technical understanding of chromatography and mass spectrometry principles is essential, along with the ability to work independently and manage a territory effectively.

• Proven field service experience with LC-MS systems
• Strong working knowledge of chromatography and mass spectrometry theory and practice
• A relevant scientific or engineering qualification (degree or equivalent experience)
• A full, valid driving licence
• Willingness to travel regularly, including occasional overnight stays
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
