Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to perform testing, maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs on electrical power equipment at customer sites across various regional locations.

You will read schematics, diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, and prepare detailed service reports while ensuring compliance with safety standards. The role requires independent problem solving, strong communication, and occasional on-call duties with travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or related technical training preferred.
• Eight or more years of electrical testing, maintenance, commissioning, or substation experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power systems and testing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing, maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs on electrical power equipment.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues in substations and power systems.
• Read and interpret schematics, drawings, manuals, and technical documentation.
• Complete service reports, testing documentation, and customer deliverables.
• Support emergency response work and customer outage situations as needed.
