Job summary

The Hanover is seeking a Senior Field Property Adjuster to independently manage field property claims across Milwaukee, Appleton and Madison. This remote, full-time role requires travel on short notice, advanced investigation, evaluation, and negotiation skills to resolve complex claims.

You will lead investigations, assess coverage, and reserve/authorize payments within authority, while mentoring junior adjusters and coordinating with legal, underwriting, vendors, and agents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with claim handling and 5–10 years adjusting experience.
• Must have and maintain appropriate state adjuster licenses, continuing education credits, and a valid driver’s license.
• Strong Xactimate proficiency, preferably Level II Certified.
• Strong knowledge of local geography, regulations, and public safety agencies, and ability to build rapport with insureds.
• Skilled in negotiation and developing strategies to influence outcomes; sound judgment in litigation and compliance matters.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage complex workflows and project work.
• Ability to travel and work on-site as needed.
• Proficient in using claims systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage field property claims, including CAT responses, with clear communication and reserving decisions within authority.
• Lead investigations, assess coverage, and issue documentation such as reservation of rights and coverage letters.
• Identify subrogation potential and coordinate recovery efforts.
• Maintain detailed claim records and prepare reports compliant with regulatory and company standards.
• Coordinate with legal, underwriting, vendors, and agents; may represent the company in mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Mentor junior adjusters and contribute to training and best practices.
