Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Virtual Senior Field Property Adjuster to independently manage field property claims from a remote location, with travel on short notice as needed. This is a full-time role aligned with EST/CST time zones.

You will lead investigations, assess coverage, and document decisions while mentoring junior adjusters and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. The role supports a positive customer experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with claim handling.
• 5–10 years of adjusting experience and knowledge of local regulations.
• Strong negotiation and decision‑making, including litigation and compliance.
• Clear written and verbal communication with diverse audiences.
• Ability to manage complex workflows and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage field property claims, including CAT response.
• Lead investigations, assess coverage, and issue documentation.
• Identify opportunities to transfer risk to appropriate entities.
• Maintain detailed claim records and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify subrogation potential and support recovery.
• Ensure activities comply with standards and regulatory obligations.
• Investigate suspicious claims and involve SIU as needed.
• Set reserves and authorize payments within authority.
• Coordinate with legal, underwriting, vendors, and agents.
• Use advanced analytics to identify trends and protect PII.
• Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
• Mentor junior adjusters and contribute to best practices.
• Deliver empathetic communication and a positive customer experience.
• May represent the company in mediations/arbitrations/trials.
• Maintain required state adjuster licenses and driver’s license.
