Job summary

City of Washington in North Carolina is seeking a Paramedic to provide life support on a 24-hour shift within the Fire/Rescue/EMS Department. You will deliver Paramedic-level care at accident scenes and during medical emergencies, and you’ll help prepare apparatus and equipment for EMS responses and vehicle maintenance.

Responsibilities include documenting patient care, performing advanced life support procedures, and conducting daily equipment checks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and NC Paramedic certification.
• National Registered Paramedic certification is preferred.
• Enrollment in local Paramedic class if not certified.
• Must pass State Test within three attempts.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex diagnostic and medical procedures including IV cannulation and endotracheal intubation.
• Drives and operates ambulance and supports paramedic engine or truck company.
• Accurately completes written and verbal reports on patient care to hospital emergency departments.
• Inspects apparatus daily and maintains inventory and records.
• Responds to scenes of accidents or acute illness and transfers patients safely.
• Participates in drills, training evolutions and public education programs.
