Job summary

ERM seeks an experienced Senior Consultant, Field Lead Archaeologist to oversee field investigations and regulatory analyses across the United States. The role blends field and office work in a dynamic consulting environment, with heavy travel and collaboration with regulators and clients.

Requirements include a Master’s in Anthropology/Archaeology, 3+ years (4+ preferred) of archaeology experience, and eligibility for permits.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Anthropology/Archaeology or related field.
• 3+ years of professional archaeology experience (4+ preferred).
• Experience as Field Lead in the Southwest or similar region.
• Eligibility for cultural resource permits (BLM, ARPA, state levels).
• Strong knowledge of NHPA Section 106 and related regs.
• Experience authoring agency-reviewed technical reports.
• Ability to lead field efforts independently or in teams.
• Willingness to travel across the United States; travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological surveys, testing, data recovery, and monitoring.
• Prepare technical report sections for cultural resource investigations and environmental documents.
• Perform archival and desktop research to support project analyses.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies including SHPO and BLM.
• Support environmental permitting and compliance processes.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (planners, biologists, GIS specialists, engineers).
• Represent ERM in client, stakeholder, and agency interactions.
• Contribute to business development and growth in cultural heritage services.
