Job summary

ERM seeks an experienced Senior Consultant, Field Lead Archaeologist to guide archaeological investigations across the US, combining fieldwork with regulatory analysis to inform responsible development. This full-time role emphasizes leading Southwest field efforts, reporting to agencies, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Applicants should have a Master’s in Anthropology/Archaeology (or related) and 3+ years of experience, with eligibility for state permits and NHPA Section 106

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Anthropology/Archaeology or related field.
• 3+ years (4+ preferred) of professional experience.
• Eligibility to be listed on cultural resource permits (BLM, ARPA, state permits).
• Strong knowledge of NHPA Section 106 and state regulations.
• Experience authoring agency-reviewed technical reports.
• Ability to lead field efforts independently or in teams.
• Willingness to travel across the United States, up to 75% in peak season.

Responsibilities

• Conduct archaeological surveys, testing, data recovery, and construction monitoring.
• Prepare technical report sections for investigations and environmental documents.
• Perform archival and desktop research to support analyses.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies (SHPO, BLM) and cross-functional teams.
• Represent ERM in client, stakeholder, and agency interactions.
• Contribute to business development in cultural heritage services.
