Job summary

The Florida Department of Transportation in Jacksonville is seeking an Inspector III in Transportation Operations. You will conduct field surveys, prepare contract documentation, and ensure compliance with state and federal standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with Class E Driver License and 12 months infra design/construction/maintenance experience, or an Associate degree or higher.
• Valid Class E driver license with acceptable driving record.
• Must complete required self-study courses within 11 months of appointment and obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surveys of signs, guardrail, and attenuators as required by procedures.
• Enter roadway data into computer database; assist in maintenance contracts.
• Prepare specifications for maintenance contracts and assist MMS/RCI with data.
• Perform constructability reviews and ensure compliance with standards.
• Interpret Temporary Traffic Control devices and safety regulations on worksites.
• Attend pre-work conferences; coordinate with contractors and permittees.
• Provide information to engineers, developers, and permit applicants as needed.
• Support MMS/RCI data input and quarterly evaluations.
