Job summary

EXP in Tampa, FL, is seeking a Senior Inspector for Florida DOT projects. On-site duties include documenting activities, reviewing contractor compliance, taking measurements for payments, and coordinating with the Project Administrator.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma or equivalent with 4 years in construction inspection (2 in bridge/roadway), a valid driver’s license, and CTQP certifications. Weekend or evening work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; additional CTQP training is preferred.
• Experience on FDOT projects and roads/bridges is essential.
• Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Document all site activities on site during duration of the contract and prepare inspection reports.
• Oversee, document, review, and assess contractor’s compliance with contractual requirements.
• Review construction documents and drawings to minimize issues and to reduce the potential for extra work orders during construction.
• Take accurate and detailed measurements of all work performed by the contractor to ensure accurate payments.
• Assist the Project Administrator with the review of contract submissions (critical path schedules, RFI’s etc).
• Assist the project Administrator with staff scheduling/coordination.
• Attend progress meeting and provide feedback on ongoing construction and issues.
• Supervision of Junior inspector.
• Inspection and testing of soils, concrete, steel and masonry materials for road and bridge projects. Experience with FDOT construction and specifications desired.
• Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications.
• Observing general job safety practices.
• Monitoring and inspecting the Work Zone Traffic Control in accordance with contract documents.
• The ability to work as a team a plus.
• Possibility of weekend and evening work as dictated by contract.
