Job summary

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six Maintenance Office seeks an Inspector III to ensure state Right of Way work meets FDOT standards through inspections, evaluations, and safety oversight of work zones.

You will work with contractors and consultants, prepare documentation for payments, and analyze plans for maintainability while following federal and state requirements. Valid driver license required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher and 12 months of infrastructure design, construction, or maintenance experience.
• Valid Class E driver license with acceptable driving record.
• Must obtain MOT certification and NPDES certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex plans and perform inspections to ensure work meets FDOT standards.
• Prepare documentation to validate payments to roadway contractors.
• Conduct surveys of signs and roadway items for inventory and data entry.
• Review plans for maintainability and adherence to specifications.
• Assist MMS/RCI coordinator by reporting maintenance conditions in the field.
• Ensure safety in work zones and oversee temporary traffic control usage.
