Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. is seeking a Construction Resident Engineer to lead field teams on road and bridge projects. You will supervise field staff, manage contracts, and coordinate field engineering services for mid to large heavy highway projects.

The role requires a strong background in construction management for residential streets, highways, bridges, and related utilities. PE license and 6+ years of experience are preferred; OSHA certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required or in active pursuit.
• 6+ years of resident engineering experience on transportation projects.
• OSHA 10 or 10 HR OSHA and IDOT certifications are preferred.
• Strong communication and coordination skills with clients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the construction inspection team.
• Plan, prepare, and analyze construction documents.
• Manage construction contracts using CMMS software.
• Prepare inspector daily reports for contractor progress payments.
• Review contractor schedules, traffic control plans, and submittals for contract compliance.
• Meet with contractors to review work plans, resolve issues, and coordinate sequencing of operations.
• Oversee field staff and administrative personnel to ensure contract compliance.
• Promote safety for personnel and the traveling public at all times.
• Monitor contractor performance against schedule, budget, and specifications.
