Farnsworth Group is seeking a Construction Resident Engineer to join our field team in Illinois. You will oversee field staff on mid-to-large heavy highway projects including roads, bridges, and utilities relocation.

The role requires strong construction management background, PEM licensure, and coordination with inspectors, contractors, and client staff. You will lead safety-focused field operations, review schedules, and manage contract administration while ensuring compliance with plans and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 6+ years of Resident Engineering experience on transportation projects.
• OSHA 10, IDOT HMA/Concrete Level 1, and IDOT Aggregates certifications.
• Strong communication and partnering skills; experience with federally funded projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the construction inspection team.
• Plan, prepare, and analyze construction documents.
• Manage contracts using CMMS software.
• Oversee daily inspector reports and contractor progress estimates.
• Review contractor schedules, traffic plans, and submittals for compliance.
• Meet with contractors to review work plans and resolve issues.
• Ensure safety of personnel and traveling public.
• Administer contracts and supervise inspectors and office staff.
• Monitor progress for schedule, budget, and specifications.
• Conduct progress meetings and prepare project status reports.
• Promote and implement safety policies.
