The role emphasizes safety, schedule adherence, and collaboration with contractors. The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree, a PE license, 6+ years of transportation RES experience, and IDOT certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 6+ years of Resident Engineering experience on transportation projects.
• OSHA 10 HR, IDOT HMA/Concrete Level 1, and IDOT Aggregates certifications.
• Partnering approach to Construction Management.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• IDOT/Tollway/local agency federally funded construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the construction inspection team.
• Plan, prepare, and analyze construction documents.
• Manage construction contracts utilizing CMMS software.
• Prepare inspector daily reports for progress payment estimates.
• Review contractor schedules, traffic control plans, and submittals for contract compliance.
• Meet with contractors to review work plans and resolve issues.
• Ensure safety of personnel and traveling public.
• Administer contracts and oversee staff.
• Monitor contractor compliance with schedule, budget and specs.
• Conduct progress meetings and report project status.
• Communicate and implement safety policies and procedures.
• Identify and address potential changes or conflicts in plans.
• Conduct field visits and participate in project delivery.
