Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks a Field Engineer for the Construction and Contracts team to interface with design oversight engineering and subcontractors supporting NEAP. The role involves developing preconstruction services, construction management strategy, and commissioning approaches while ensuring safety, reliability, quality, schedule and cost.

Requirements include a related technical degree with extensive experience, plus familiarity with OSHA regulations, building codes, and cost

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field with 9+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s with 7+ years; or Doctorate with 3+ years; or currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
  • Experience developing technical documents such as specs, work scopes, or contract documents is preferred.
  • Knowledge of 29 CFR 1926 OSHA Construction Industry Regulations and Standards is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Building Codes and Standards is preferred.
  • Experience with planning and executing projects is preferred.
  • Experience with cost estimate development/review is preferred.
  • Experience with software tools like AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Office is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with design oversight engineering and subcontractors to support the project.
  • Develop construction management strategy during detailed design phase.
  • Provide preconstruction services and contribute to commissioning approaches.
  • Ensure safety, reliability, quality, schedule, and cost in project execution.
