Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks a Field Engineer for the Construction and Contracts team to interface with design oversight engineering and subcontractors supporting NEAP. The role involves developing preconstruction services, construction management strategy, and commissioning approaches while ensuring safety, reliability, quality, schedule and cost.

Requirements include a related technical degree with extensive experience, plus familiarity with OSHA regulations, building codes, and cost

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field with 9+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s with 7+ years; or Doctorate with 3+ years; or currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
  • Experience developing technical documents such as specs, work scopes, or contract documents is preferred.
  • Knowledge of 29 CFR 1926 OSHA Construction Industry Regulations and Standards is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Building Codes and Standards is preferred.
  • Experience with planning and executing projects is preferred.
  • Experience with cost estimate development/review is preferred.
  • Experience with software tools like AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Office is preferred.

Job Description

The Naval Examination Acquisition Project (NEAP) is seeking a Field Engineer for the Construction and Contracts team to interface with design oversight engineering and subcontractors supporting the project. As NEAP transitions into the detailed design phase this position will work closely with the subcontracted Construction Manager to provide preconstruction services and develop the construction management strategy. This individual may also be involved in developing and managing the commissioning approach. The Field Engineer provides technical knowledge for development and execution of projects without compromising safety, reliability, quality, schedule and cost, as part of a multi-disciplinary project team.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, science or construction field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Pay Range

$106,200.00 - $166,000.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
