Job summary

States Manufacturing Corporation in Reno, NV seeks a Level 5 Switchgear Field Engineer to lead on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of medium- and high-voltage switchgear. You will serve as technical authority, ensure safe work, interface with customers, and mentor junior staff during outages and turnarounds.

The role requires 8+ years of field experience, strong knowledge of NFPA 70E/OSHA safety, and proven ability to read schematics and write field reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of field experience with MV/HV switchgear and protection systems.
• Ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E/OSHA safety.
• Proven ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead field installation, commissioning, and service for switchgear.
• Plan and perform advanced diagnostics for protection/control issues.
• Plan/perform testing: insulation resistance, hipot/VLF, and related checks.
• Commission protection relays and verify settings per drawings.
• Interpret and redline drawings and verify as-built conditions.
• Lead on-site safety, briefings, and hazard controls.
• Mentor junior engineers/technicians and review work quality.
• Coordinate with PMs and engineering for parts, escalations, and documentation.
