Job summary

States Manufacturing Corporation seeks a Level 5 Switchgear Field Engineer to lead complex field service for medium- and high-voltage systems. You will direct installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting, interfacing with customers and project teams while mentoring junior staff.

You will provide on-site safety leadership, ensure quality and schedule adherence, and drive continuous improvement through documentation, testing, and knowledge transfer during outages and turnarounds.

Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
8+ years of field experience with MV/HV switchgear, breakers, and protection & control systems.
Proven ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning/service events.
Strong working knowledge of electrical safety practices (NFPA 70E/OSHA or local equivalents), including LOTO and arc-flash risk controls.
Experience reading and troubleshooting schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-lines.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

Lead field execution for switchgear installation, commissioning, and service.
Plan and perform advanced diagnostics for equipment and protection/control issues.
Execute acceptance, maintenance, and testing per standards and drawings.
Provide technical leadership during outages and critical recovery events.
Mentor and supervise junior engineers/technicians on-site.
Produce field service reports, test records, and commissioning checklists.
Coordinate with PMs, engineering, factory, and supply chain on parts and escalations.
Identify upsell/modernization opportunities and communicate leads.
