Job summary

Optimum in Franklin, NC seeks a Maintenance Technician III to repair and maintain fiber and coaxial networks from the headend to customers. You’ll support headend electronics and field devices, troubleshoot issues, and mentor junior technicians to meet service standards.

The role requires a DOT-capable driver, fiber/troubleshooting expertise, and collaboration with design, construction, ISP, and NOC teams to ensure reliability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with DOT compliance ability.
• DOT medical card and CDL where applicable.
• Ability to operate testing equipment (e.g., signal level meters, ohm meters).
• FTTH/RFOG architecture knowledge emphasized.
• Fiber repair and troubleshooting experience.
• BDS & BTS certification preferred.
• ISP or Hot Hands experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills demand maintenance and preventive maintenance by troubleshooting and repairing transport networks from headend to customer devices.
• Maintains a unity gain network and performs FCC-required tests.
• Performs duties of Maintenance Tech I/II as needed.
• Troubleshoots and repairs distribution from headend to customer devices.
• Maintains network integrity through preventive maintenance.
• Build, troubleshoot, and repair FTTH & RFOG networks.
• Resolves installation issues and service-call problems at customer tap.
• Coordinate with Design, construction, ISP, NOC/ROC to resolve escalations.
