Job summary

Optimum in Midland, TX seeks a Maintenance Technician III to repair and maintain fiber and coaxial networks, ensuring service quality for video, data and voice. You'll support headend equipment, troubleshoot end-to-end, and mentor junior technicians while aligning with safety and DOT requirements.

Responsibilities include handling demand and preventive maintenance, conducting FCC tests, and building FTTH/RFOG infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Internal applicants must complete their Career Progression program to be deemed eligible.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing; meet DOT standards.
• Ability to obtain DOT medical card and CDL where applicable.
• Qualified to obtain licenses required by the state for installing/servicing security services.
• Ability to operate testing equipment (signal level meters, ohm meters).
• BDS & BTS certification preferred.
• Fiber repair and troubleshooting experience.
• In-depth knowledge of FTTH & RFOG architecture and distribution of plant.
• Able to utilize FTTH network tools: AGORA, Netwin, Net-Q.
• Experience with ISP or Hot Hands for ISP.
• Experience with OSP construction tasks.
• Physical demands assessed post-offer; may require a physical assessment.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills demand and preventive maintenance by troubleshooting networks from headend to customer devices.
• Maintains a unity gain network.
• Performs FCC-required network tests.
• Covers duties of Maintenance Tech I/II as needed.
• Troubleshoots distribution network from headend to customer devices.
• Maintains network integrity through preventive maintenance.
• Builds, troubleshoots, repairs FTTH & RFOG networks.
• Resolves installation and scheduled service call issues from customer devices to tap.
• Coordinates with Design, Construction, ISP, NOC/ROC to resolve escalations.
• Oversees training and development for team members; supports best practices.
