Job summary

Swingtech is seeking a Senior Classification Specialist to provide expert Federal position classification, position management, PD development, desk audits, and training support for a Federal client’s HR Division.

The role requires extensive knowledge of Federal HR classification principles and the ability to evaluate complex positions, including where no direct standard exists. This onsite position is in Arlington, VA with possible approved telework per Government.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required.
• Active Secret clearance is required at proposal submission and maintained throughout contract performance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience supporting Federal HR programs with direct classification experience.
• Previous Federal position classification experience is required.
• Strong knowledge of Federal classification principles, concepts, practices, techniques, and standards.
• Ability to advise managers and senior stakeholders on complex classification and organizational design issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide Federal position classification and position management support, including PD development and desk audits.
• Determine pay system, occupational grouping, title, series, grade, and classification rationale for Federal positions.
• Review, develop, and classify position descriptions, including complex positions with no direct standards.
• Apply cross-series comparisons and classification by analogy when evaluating positions.
• Conduct position and organizational evaluations to support design and management.
• Provide recommendations to management regarding position structure, pay, and organizational alignment.
• Support determinations related to FLSA status, bargaining unit status, and related considerations.
• Maintain awareness of client mission and management trends affecting classification decisions.
• Confer with HR staff and management on classification actions and workforce impacts.
• Analyze complex issues and develop practical, well-supported solutions.
• Provide technical advice and training to managers, supervisors, HR staff, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to complete PD development, classifications, and training activities.
• Ensure timely, quality delivery of classification services in line with requirements.
