Job summary

ABM leads a new, state-of-the-art life sciences facility with a senior, hands-on Lead Facility Engineer. This role combines leadership with direct maintenance work, owning operations across HVAC, electrical, plumbing and life-safety systems in a critical lab environment.

The candidate will personally perform preventive maintenance, manage contractor work, review vendor proposals, and guide commissioning and turnover, ensuring reliability and compliance.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years in building engineering or facilities operations with leadership responsibilities.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for HVAC, electrical, pumps and life-safety systems.
• Ability to read drawings and equipment manuals; interpret one-line diagrams.
• EPA 608 certification preferred; licensed work as applicable.
• Experience with CMMS, vendor management, RFPs, and budget support.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day operations of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems in a life sciences facility.
• Personally perform preventive maintenance and coordinate specialized contractors.
• Investigate alarms, determine repairs or escalation, and verify closeout.
• Support commissioning, turnover, and review of O&M manuals and schedules.
• Coordinate outages, safety practices, and after-hours responses to protect operations.
• Lead on-site technical communications with management, vendors, and tenants.
