Job summary

UG2 in Boston, MA seeks an Engineering Manager to oversee facility operations, maintenance, and engineering services for our life science–focused site. You will lead engineers and technicians, manage vendors, and drive predictive maintenance to ensure reliability and safety of critical building systems.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, 10+ years in facilities management, and strong leadership with excellent communication in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field; advanced certifications preferred.
• Minimum 10 years in facilities management with 5+ years in leadership in life science or pharma settings.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and lab infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, maintenance technicians, and staff to high performance.
• Develop and implement SOPs for facility operations and maintenance.
• Establish KPIs to drive operational excellence.
• Oversee operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, labs).
• Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
• Develop and manage capital projects, within budget and time constraints.
• Prepare and monitor annual operating and capital budgets; identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Negotiate and manage vendor contracts; evaluate performance.
