Job Description

Coordinates and directs the design, planning, construction, maintenance, alteration, and service of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities, either personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Charlotte, NC

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Inspect plant, custodial, and landscape conditions; evaluate service effectiveness.
  • Direct ABM and Central Piedmont Community College staff in support services for assigned facilities.
  • Analyze sites’ MEP systems, network wiring, lighting, and develop preventive service methods.
  • Manage operating budgets up to $13 million for services and capital funds.
  • Collaborate with clients on long-term plans, designs, and capital projects, including cost estimates and contracts.
  • Perform QA and service audits to support service excellence.
  • Formulate and coordinate program specifications, proposals, and contracts.
  • Act as liaison with utility, environmental, and energy agencies; work with campus safety departments.
  • Inspect construction progress for conformance to specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with contract specifications and campus services oversight.
  • Coordinate building space allocation, layout, and communication services.
  • Oversee maintenance, grounds, and custodial personnel engaged in campus/site services.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage 100+ employees across plant maintenance, custodial, grounds, and landscape services, ensuring effective supervision, hiring, training, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution.

Demonstrate skills in analytical thinking, design, problem-solving, project management, technical knowledge, customer service, interpersonal skills, communication, teamwork, change management, delegation, leadership, and others as listed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or Architecture with 5+ years in facilities management in large institutional or campus environments.

Skills and Certifications

Proficiency in business and technical software, valid driver’s license, EPA certification, and possibly bilingual in Spanish.

Physical Demands

Regular talking, walking, sitting, handling, reaching; occasional standing, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds; vision requirements.
