Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in Redwood City, CA is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the safe, reliable operation and continuous improvement of all building infrastructure and critical utilities at a corporate campus.

You will coach engineering and maintenance teams, ensure regulatory compliance, manage budgets, and drive energy efficiency while maintaining hands-on troubleshooting and strong collaboration with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with minimum 8-10 years of facilities engineering, operations, or maintenance experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience managing engineering and maintenance personnel.
• EPA Universal Certification.
• Experience managing facility infrastructure projects and capital improvements.
• Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, electrical distribution systems, emergency generators, BAS/BMS controls, and critical utility infrastructure.
• Strong working knowledge of plumbing systems, fire and life safety systems, reliability-centered maintenance practices, and root cause analysis methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and technical guidance to the facilities teams and engineering personnel while establishing goals, objectives, and performance expectations for direct reports.
• Develop workforce planning, succession planning, technical training, and professional development programs for engineering staff while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, reliability, and continuous improvement.
• Serve as the senior technical authority for all facility infrastructure systems including HVAC, Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS), chillers, cooling towers, boilers, electrical distribution, emergency generators, UPS systems, data centers, and life safety systems.
• Ensure facilities and critical infrastructure are operated and maintained safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved budgets and operational plans while managing and optimizing departmental resources.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues while developing reliability-centered maintenance strategies to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
• Oversee the Facilities Work Order and CMMS platform, ensuring work is prioritized, assigned, completed, and documented appropriately while maintaining preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
