Job summary

AbbVie in New Jersey seeks an experienced Senior Engineer to apply engineering and scientific knowledge to building systems with minimal supervision. You will help maintain the facility drawings, procedures, and equipment documentation while ensuring alignment with design intent.

You will lead maintenance planning, safety program development, and vendor coordination, balancing cost with performance while meeting regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, science, or closely related discipline is desired, or equivalent technical experience plus demonstrated competence, with a desired 4+ years of significant engineering and/or operational experience.
• Possesses a strong technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures. Works on problems of complex scope where analysis of situations or data involves multiple competing factors.
• Demonstrates judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
• Interacts well with diverse groups within engineering and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators
• Listens to and understands others' points of view and articulates tactfully and respectfully one's own perspective orally, in writing, and in presentations.
• Works well with other engineers in a collaborative, fast-paced goal-driven environment.
• Possesses interpersonal skills to negotiate and reconcile differences.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain the building drawings database, this includes building and equipment drawings, Turn Over packages, equipment manuals & specifications, sequence of operations, and approve changes with AbbVie team.
• Produces unique & cost-effective results; oversees design work of internal & external consultants; integrates financial data with technical data.
• Represents engineering on corporate task forces; proposes solutions to meet customer needs and participates in strategic planning.
• Coordinates with outside vendors for plans, budgets, schedules, inspections; ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Manages office/lab space, HVAC, utilities, and building equipment; oversees maintenance and space layout for new employees.
• Provides off-hours HS&E support and develops safety policies and procedures; ensures ongoing compliance and risk mitigation.
• Establishes budget and spending projections; develops policies for the Facility, Operations & Engineering team; communicates for compliance.
• Mentors the IFM engineering team and contributes to maintenance procedures and KPI tracking.
