Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead and coordinate building and facility projects from design through execution. The role focuses on maintaining drawings, equipment manuals, and specifications while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

The candidate will manage internal and external resources, collaborate on strategic plans, and oversee budget, scope, and schedules for complex facilities work.

Qualifications

• BS Engineering degree or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in large capital projects and facility upgrades.
• GMP experience in pharmaceutical or medical device industry desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain building drawings database including drawings, turn over packages, equipment manuals & specifications.
• Oversee design work of internal and external consultants; modify designs; balance costs and benefits.
• Represent engineering on corporate task forces; identify customer needs and propose solutions.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for plans, budgets, schedules, and maintenance requirements; ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage engineering, maintenance, alteration & relocation of office/laboratory areas and equipment; oversee space planning.
• Provide off-hours support during emergencies; develop HS&E policies and ensure compliance.
• Conduct injury investigations, root cause analysis and safety inspections; document required programs.
• Develop budgets and capital plans; communicate policies to teams.
• Oversee year-end shutdowns; deliver multiple change programs; report metrics for continuous improvement.
• Mentor the Integrated Facility Management engineering team.
