Job summary

Northwestern University seeks an experienced Project Manager to oversee the programming, design, and construction of capital projects of varying size and complexity. You will provide comprehensive management for large complex projects or multiple smaller ones, interfacing with faculty, staff, and leadership on both Evanston and Chicago campuses.

Responsibilities include pre-design, design, bidding, construction, and turnover activities, ensuring schedule adherence, budget control, and compliance

Qualifications

• Ability to build and manage diverse project teams.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and multiple responsibilities to provide high level client service.
• Working knowledge of Building Codes, Life Safety Codes & ADA standards.
• Proficiency in preparing and reviewing construction administration documentation.
• Working proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Basic knowledge of construction/project accounting standards.
• Basic knowledge of project financial monitoring, tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates the gathering of program information to develop program requirements and budgets.
• Prepares and negotiates consultant agreements and manages professional procurement.
• Leads design meetings and coordinates with stakeholders and leadership.
• Reviews architectural and engineering drawings to ensure requirements are met.
• Solicits, tabulates, reviews, and awards contractor proposals; prepares contracts.
• Coordinates purchase of equipment and furnishings to meet schedules.
• Manages construction process and occupancy activities to minimize impact on operations.
