Job summary

Northeastern University in Boston seeks a Senior Capital Projects Manager to lead large, complex capital projects across laboratories, housing, classrooms, and offices. You will coordinate internal teams and external consultants, manage budgets, and ensure adherence to university standards.

Ideal candidates bring extensive experience with multi-discipline construction, strong leadership, and a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
• Professional registration (Arch. or PE) in Massachusetts or ability to obtain Massachusetts registration within one year.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience with multi-discipline, multi-million dollar construction projects including a minimum of three (3) years experience managing project support staff.
• Minimum of twenty (20) years experience in lieu of professional degree.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with campus and external constituents reflecting a strong customer service commitment.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement imaginative solutions to complex problems.
• Experience using scheduling, spreadsheet, word processing and database software systems.
• Thorough knowledge of construction practices, project budget development, scheduling, tracking and control.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage multiple technically complex capital project activities with in-house and outside consultants.
• Supervise resident engineers assigned to oversee construction activity on multiple projects.
• Manage feasibility studies including program information and interdepartmental coordination.
• Review planning and contract documents for compatibility with University standards.
• Prepare financial analyses and total project cost estimates.
• Establish and manage project budgets throughout the lifecycle.
• Contract administration and management of resident engineers for diverse capital projects.
• Represent the University to external agencies and officials on assigned projects.
• Prepare written and graphic presentations; maintain proficiency in standard office software.
• Promote continuous improvement and strong customer service relationships.
