Job summary

American Express Global Business Travel is seeking a Senior Event Manager to lead complex, multiday programs for a dedicated Experience Studio team supporting a major client. You will own budgets above $1M, supervise onsite teams, and partner with producers on strategy and content.

You will mentor Event Managers, maintain detailed planning calendars, and manage supplier relationships—from hotels to transportation—within client procurement rules.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years planning corporate meetings, events, and incentives with full program responsibility.
• Budget management for programs above $1 million with accurate forecasts and reconciliations.
• Experience directing multiday executive programs and onsite teams of ten or more.
• Worked as planning lead beside a producer, with clear ownership boundaries.
• Strong hotel and supplier contract skills (attrition, cancellations, min spends).
• Proficient in Cvent and enterprise project tools in client environments.
• Ability to manage multiple programs at different stages and address risks early.
• Comfort presenting to senior stakeholders and coaching junior planners.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver complex programs from kickoff through onsite execution and close.
• Lead planning with the producer, translating briefs into actionable plans.
• Build and manage budgets from initial estimates to final reconciliation.
• Create and maintain the detailed planning calendar and timelines.
• Manage hotels, venues, transport, F&B, and destination partners within rules.
• Coordinate attendee logistics, housing, and communications in Cvent.
• Run onsite logistics with teams, including staffing and VIP movements.
• Mentor Event Managers, review plans, and manage peaks across the calendar.
• Maintain thorough planning files and decision notes for continuity.
• Flag scope, budget, and resource risks to leadership with recommendations.
