Job summary

Archer, an aerospace company in San Jose, seeks a Powertrain Manufacturing Engineer to scale the Electric Propulsion System production. You will lead layout, automation strategy, tooling, and ramp-up planning to enable high-rate manufacturing.

You will collaborate with Design, Quality, Facilities, and Manufacturing to bring motor and propeller systems into production, implement DFM, and define MBOM. Strong manufacturing and engineering experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
• 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in EV, aerospace, or advanced hardware production.
• Hands-on experience with equipment commissioning, OEE improvement, and maintenance program development.

Responsibilities

• Design and scale Archer's Electric Propulsion System production line from concept to high-rate manufacturing.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Design, Quality, Facilities, and Manufacturing.
• Perform DFM to ensure safe, efficient, scalable production.
• Develop and execute manufacturing build plans including MBOM, flow, layout, and tooling.
• Specify and validate automation systems, tooling, and test equipment for high reliability.
• Perform PFMEA to identify and mitigate production risks.
• Create and approve detailed work instructions for EPS assembly and installation.
• Support first article builds and production validation testing.
• Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem-solving.
