Job summary

Archer is developing an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft in San Jose, CA. We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead stator/rotor mechanical design, insulation development, and integration with electromagnetic and thermal teams to ensure robust, scalable propulsion hardware.

You will collaborate with CAE, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to meet aviation standards, while traveling domestically as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical design of electric machines.
• Deep understanding of electric motor construction, insulation materials.

Responsibilities

• Lead detailed mechanical design of stator assemblies with structural and thermal goals.
• Develop insulation systems meeting durability requirements for high voltage aviation.
• Design rotor assemblies and create CAD drawings and specs.
• Perform FEA to verify strength and fatigue, support testing, and triage issues.
• Collaborate with EM, Thermal, and Manufacturing teams for integration and DFM feedback.
